The Artists' Collective (TAC) was initially founded on October 13, 1991 by Binnur Karaevli and Theresa Larkin. Later Shishir Kurup and Susan Rubin joined the team as collaborators establishing TAC as an arts umbrella organization created to support artists and emerging groups in various stages of development. TAC was developed as a response to the closure of Los Angeles Theatre Center (LATC), which had been a generous and protective home for a number of performance labs and theatre groups working at LATC under the guiding mentorship of Bill Bushnell and Diane White, among others.
Since the early days in 1991, TAC has produced (and/or co-produced) productions, staged readings, talks, symposia, and workshops with the following educational institutions, non-profit companies, organizations, projects, and labs:
